The short version

We collect only the details needed to provide the feature you choose.
A Free Resources email is used for that one-time delivery, not silently added to a marketing list.
Birthday Club details and optional photographs are used to administer birthday messages.
Birthday Club photographs must remain private and are attached to messages from restricted storage; they are not a public gallery.
We do not sell personal information.
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your details, or leave the Birthday Club.

This notice describes the website’s current intended practice. If a new feature needs different information or a different use, we will explain that before collecting it and update this page.

Information we collect

Free Resources

When you request a free resource, we may receive your email address, the selected book, the selected language, the date and basic delivery status. We need this information to display and, where available, email the correct resource.

Oscar’s Birthday Club

We receive the owner’s name and email address, the dog’s name and birthday, the preferred birthday greeting, and any optional breed description, owner birthday or photographs you choose to provide. We also record the consent notice version and operational information such as whether a birthday card has already been sent that year.

Reviews and reader reactions

If you send a review directly to House of Oscar, we receive the words and contact details you choose to include. We will ask for permission before publishing a direct submission and will use only the display name or description agreed with the reviewer. Reviews submitted on Amazon or another platform are also governed by that platform’s terms and privacy notice.

Support and ideas

When you email us, we receive your address, message and any information or attachments you include. Please do not send medical records, payment-card details, passwords or other sensitive information through ordinary email.

Basic technical information

Our hosting provider may process routine server information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, date and security signals. If we later add analytics, advertising or non-essential cookies, we will update this notice and add any consent controls required for them.

How and why we use it

We use personal information for the purpose made clear at the point of collection:

to deliver the resource and troubleshoot missing downloads;
to register a Birthday Club member and send the requested annual messages;
to reply to support questions, privacy requests and ideas;
to publish an authorised reader reaction accurately and with appropriate attribution;
to prevent abuse, duplicate submissions and security incidents; and
to maintain required operational records and comply with applicable obligations.

We do not use a resource request or Birthday Club registration as automatic permission for unrelated promotional email. A future newsletter will have its own clear, optional sign-up.

Storage, sharing and retention

Website forms may send information to services used to run House of Oscar, including Google Apps Script, Google Sheets, Google Drive and Gmail. These providers process information under their own terms and security controls. Access within House of Oscar should be limited to people who need it for the relevant service.

Birthday photographs

Birthday Club photographs are intended to be stored in a restricted Drive folder and used as private email attachments or inline images. They must not be set to “anyone with the link.” Before launching or updating the Birthday Club, the folder owner should verify that its General access setting is Restricted.

How long we keep information

Resource requests: only as long as reasonably needed for delivery, troubleshooting, security and essential records.
Birthday Club: while the registration remains active, then deleted or anonymised after a valid withdrawal or deletion request, subject to any limited record we must retain.
Support messages: as long as needed to resolve and document the request.
Published reviews: until permission is withdrawn or the review is no longer used, subject to copies already printed or controlled by third-party platforms.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it when required by law, to protect people or the service, or to a service provider needed to perform the requested function. If ownership of the business changes, relevant records may transfer with appropriate safeguards and notice where required.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may be able to ask what information we hold, request a copy, correct an error, withdraw consent, object to some uses, or request deletion. You can leave the Birthday Club at any time.

Email support@thehouseofoscar.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. Tell us the email address used and, for Birthday Club requests, the dog’s name. We may need to confirm identity before acting so that one person cannot alter another person’s information.

Children and family photographs

The website forms are intended to be completed by adults. Do not upload a photograph of a child unless you are their parent or legal guardian, or have the guardian’s permission. Please choose a pet-only photograph whenever a person does not need to appear. If a photograph was provided without appropriate permission, contact us for prompt removal.

Editorial and nutrition standards

Educational, not veterinary care

Healthy Paws Kitchen books and website material are general educational information. They do not diagnose, treat or replace individual veterinary advice. A dog’s age, size, health, medicines, allergies and complete diet all matter.

How to use a recipe responsibly

Discuss meaningful diet changes with your veterinarian or a qualified veterinary nutrition professional.
Take particular care with puppies, pregnant dogs, senior dogs, illness, allergies, medication and therapeutic diets.
Introduce new foods gradually and stop if a dog becomes unwell.
Check every ingredient and portion for the individual dog; “natural” does not automatically mean safe.
Do not assume a homemade recipe is complete and balanced for long-term feeding unless it has been formulated and assessed for that purpose.

Books, future foods, treats and toys

We distinguish editorial content from regulated or safety-critical products. A future food, treat, supplement or toy should not be offered merely because it fits the Oscar brand. It must first address formulation, testing, manufacturing, labelling, traceability, age and size suitability, choking or durability risks, local regulations and a clear customer-support process.

Reviews and corrections

Reader reactions shown on the website should be genuine, concise and attributed honestly. We will not invent star ratings, sales figures or veterinary endorsements. If a material error is identified in our content, please email us with the title, edition and page or web address so it can be reviewed and corrected.
